Crop Insurance Deadline Extended: This is very important and comforting news for the farmers of the state. The Maharashtra government has now extended the deadline for the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) till August 10, 2026. Earlier, the last date to participate in this scheme was fixed as July 31, 2026. However, considering the technical difficulties and incompleteness of documents in many areas, the government has decided to give this additional period of 10 days in the interest of the farmers.
Main reason for extension
According to official information given by the state’s Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharne, so far 61 lakh 82 thousand 218 farmers in the state have successfully completed their registration for crop insurance in the current Kharif season. However, due to the huge pressure on the official portal at the same time and the slow running of the server in the last days of July, thousands of farmers were not able to submit their online applications. Also, in some areas, there was a fear that farmers would be deprived as the necessary documents were not submitted on time. Registration process and required documents

- CSC Center: Farmers can visit their nearest Collective Service Center (Maha-e-Seva Kendra) and apply through authorized staff.
- Online Portal: Farmers who wish to apply themselves can complete their registration by going directly to the PMFBY official portal.
