The country’s government oil companies have released new prices of petrol and diesel at 6 am today. It is a matter of relief for common consumers that even today there has been no increase in oil prices. Fuel prices in the domestic market have remained stable since the increase on Saturday last week. Meanwhile, a good news is coming out from the global market. Some decline has been recorded in the prices of crude oil at the international level. However, experts say that this decline is still much lower than the level before the start of the war, that is, prices still remain at a high level. The most expensive and cheapest fuel is available in these cities. Due to taxes and local fares across the country, prices of petrol and diesel vary in different states. According to the latest data, the most expensive petrol is currently being sold in Hyderabad, where the public has to pay Rs 115.69 for one liter of petrol. Whereas, if we talk about diesel, it is at the highest level in Thiruvananthapuram, where the price of one liter diesel has reached Rs 115.49. On the other hand, there is a big relief for the drivers in Chandigarh, where the rate of petrol is only Rs 98.10 per liter, which is much lower than many big metros including Delhi. The rate of diesel in Bhubaneswar has been recorded at Rs 100.92 per liter. So far in the current month i.e. May, the prices of petrol and diesel have been increased four times. In these four installments alone, fuel prices have increased by about Rs 7.5 per litre. In fact, due to the skyrocketing prices of crude oil at the international level, there was immense pressure on the oil marketing companies to increase the prices. Before this increase, oil companies were facing huge losses of about Rs 1000 crore per day, which has now reduced to less than Rs 500 crore per day after the increase in prices. To save the public from rising inflation, the Central Government had also made efforts at its level and reduced the excise duty. But when the prices of crude oil did not come under control in the international market, ultimately the oil companies had to take the decision to increase the prices.
