Zaheer expressed his excitement about joining CSK and recalled facing the franchise during his playing career.
The 2011 World Cup winner also highlighted the atmosphere at Chepauk created by CSK’s Superfans and said he was looking forward to becoming part of the franchise’s history.
“It’s an honour to be a part of one of the most successful teams in the history of the IPL,” Zaheer said after his appointment.
Zaheer’s IPL And Management Experience
The Zaheer Khan CSK head coach appointment brings extensive IPL experience to the franchise. Zaheer played 100 IPL matches for Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals, taking 102 wickets at an economy rate of 7.59.
After retiring from playing, he moved into team management. He joined Mumbai Indians as Director of Cricket Operations ahead of the 2019 season and later handled their global development programme.
Zaheer subsequently joined Lucknow Super Giants as a mentor for IPL 2025. His stint with LSG ended before the following season, paving the way for his move to CSK.
