CWG 2026 : Indian boxers continue their impressive performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow . India has increased its medal tally by winning gold medals in boxing competitions. As of this writing, India has won seven gold medals. The victories of Arundhati Chaudhary and Priya Ghanghas further enhanced the Indian community’s joy. Arundhati Chaudhary won the gold medal in the women’s 70 kg category with a strong performance. She faced England’s Chantelle Reid in the final.
Arundhati maintained her dominance from the start of the bout. She didn’t give Reid many chances and kept the pressure on with her punches. The Indian boxer performed brilliantly in the final round as well, winning the third round 5-0. After all three rounds, the judges declared Arundhati the winner by a unanimous 5-0 decision. Sachin Siwach also won the gold medal in the men’s 60kg boxing event, while Ankush Panghal won the gold medal in the men’s 80kg final, giving India seven gold medals from nine boxing finals. With one more gold medal bout remaining, India’s total in boxing has reached nine, including seven gold medals. This brings the total to 37. India now has 13 gold, 16 silver, and eight bronze medals, placing it fourth in the medal tally.

Priya Ghanghas also turned the tables, winning gold in 60kg
Before Arundhati, India’s Priya Ghanghas made a remarkable comeback to win the gold medal in the women’s 60 kg category. Priya faced Canada’s Marie-Bathol Al-Ahmadiyeh in the final. The match was not easy, and the Indian boxer had to perform at her best until the very end.
Priya made a remarkable comeback in the decisive third round and won it 4-1. The judges then declared her the winner by a 4-1 split decision. With this victory, Priya gave India another gold medal in boxing and kicked off the evening session on a high note.

Olympic medalist Lovlina Borgohain won the silver medal in the women’s 75kg category, losing to Australia’s Emma-Sue Greentree in the final. The final bout between Lovlina and Greentree was a close one. After the first two rounds, both boxers were tied at 1-1. Consequently, the final round became crucial for the outcome. In the third round, the Australian boxer performed better and won the round 4-1. Following this, Emma-Sue Greentree was declared the winner by a 1-4 split decision from the judges. Lovlina had to settle for the silver medal after this defeat.

Lovlina Borgohain is one of the most experienced and prominent figures in Indian boxing. An Olympic medalist, Lovlina once again proved her mettle on the big stage by reaching the final. While she missed out on gold this time, the silver medal in the 75kg category marks another significant achievement in her international career. The highlight of the bout was the lack of a one-sided decision, with both boxers tied after the first two rounds.
