The invaluable changes taking place in weather and climate at the global level have given scientists and meteorologists sleepless nights. At present the whole world is going through a very dangerous and unprecedented phase of 'Super-Duper El Nino'. The United Nations (UN) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) have issued a warning, calling it the most powerful climate event since 1950. Recent climate maps released by meteorologists have shown a large part of the Earth colored in dark red, indicating extremely severe levels of global warming and increasing heat. What is 'Super-Duper El Nino' and the opinion of scientists According to weather experts, a huge amount of heat has accumulated in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, due to its release, a large area of the Earth will remain unusually hot in the coming months. Well-known meteorologist Ryan Maue, while sharing a climate map of the world on the social media platform 'X', said that the Earth has almost completely turned red. He has warned that this form of El Nino will remain active with its full strength even in the winter season. Apart from this, another famous scientist Jake Hausfather said that this year El Nino has reached a situation never seen before in history. The sea surface temperature in the main center of El Nino has been recorded 3.4 degrees Celsius above normal, which is a new record so far. Famous meteorologist Leon Simmons has named this severe situation as 'Super-Duper El Nino'. Why is El Nino dangerous and what will be its effects? El Nino is the warm phase of the naturally occurring 'El Nino-Southern Oscillation' (ENSO) cycle, which directly affects the weather around the world. Due to its effect, the global temperature increases rapidly and the rainfall pattern in many parts of the world gets completely disturbed. In some areas, there is a possibility of severe drought, while in some areas, disasters like extremely torrential rains and floods are seen. Normally this cycle is activated every two to seven years, but this time the form is very severe. Researchers at the Climate Impact Lab of the University of Chicago have recently released an estimate warning that due to the impact of this Super El Nino, there may be more than 4 lakh 51 thousand deaths worldwide between June and February 2027. Scientists predict that this dangerous climate pattern could persist till February 2027, causing a huge crisis on global agriculture, water resources and human life.
