Big news is coming for cricket fans. The schedule of the fifth season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is almost finalized. Like men, women players have also succeeded in creating their own identity through WPL.
According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the next season of the Women’s Premier League will be played between 14 January to 7 February 2027. Fans eagerly wait for this great women’s competition every year.
Before the start of the new season, teams will have to prepare their squads, for which some specific dates have been fixed. Every team has been given time till September 28 to submit the list of player retention. By this day all the franchises will decide which old players they want to retain.
The auction will be organized at Grand Hyatt Hotel, Kochi on 28 October 2026. Where all the five teams will bid on new players to strengthen their team.
This time BCCI is considering many places to organize matches. According to media reports, cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Varanasi and Vadodara are being considered for this time’s matches.
Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium is being considered as a main venue, where many great matches and finals have been played in the past. For the second venue, the names of Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara and the new stadium in Varanasi are being discussed.
BCCI’s Cricket Operations team is going to inspect the new stadium of Varanasi soon. If everything goes well, then some home or practice matches will be organized there to see whether the ground is completely ready for the tournament or not.
