Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) chief Abhijeet Deepke issued a video message on Tuesday appealing to his supporters to maintain peace. He urged supporters to shun hatred and continue the movement in a non-violent manner after the arrest of Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. Deepke also raised questions on comparing the protests taking place in India with the violent regime change movements in Nepal and Bangladesh.
'We did not choose the path of violence', said Abhijeet Deepke
In the video released titled 'Message to all cockroaches', Deepke said that the peaceful jailing of Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka reflects the spirit of Gandhian Satyagraha. According to him, both the leaders went to jail smiling without anger and hatred.
Deepke appealed to the supporters not to get angry over the arrest. He said that the movement should move forward on the path of peace, love and non-violence.
Objection on comparison of India's movement with Nepal-Bangladesh
Referring to the youth protests in France as well as the power change movements of Nepal and Bangladesh, the CJP chief said the ongoing protests in India cannot be equated with these incidents.
Deepke said that despite knowing that Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were allegedly sent to jail illegally, they faced their arrest peacefully. He expressed confidence that even after release, both the leaders will follow the path of non-violence and raise the slogan of 'Inquilab Zindabad'.
Custody of Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka extended till October 21
Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were arrested on October 12 for reaching Delhi's Jantar Mantar without permission. After their arrest, both were sent to judicial custody for five days. After the detention period ended on Monday, it was extended by two days till October 21.
Discussion regarding French demonstrations also
A report published on October 9 by Fox News Digital claimed to have identified a network of 50 organizations linked to the French student demonstrations. The report alleged that some leftist groups were using the student protests for broader political purposes. However, these allegations are based on claims made in the report.
