On the solemn and inspiring occasion of the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh delivered a blistering and uncompromising message to Pakistan, declaring that New Delhi will henceforth engage in diplomatic dialogues concerning only Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Speaking directly from the hallowed grounds of Dras in Ladakh on Saturday, the Defence Minister asserted that Pakistan is currently in illegal occupation of Indian territory and will eventually have to vacate it. Highlighting India’s military resolve and recent counter-terror strides, including the strategic impact of Operation Sindoor, Singh warned Islamabad that any future cross-border misadventure or terrorist provocation will be met with a retaliatory response far beyond their imagination, sharply contrasting India’s focus on building high-tech data centers with Pakistan’s establishment of radicalization hubs.

Paying profound tributes to the fallen heroes and valiant martyrs of the 1999 war, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh remarked that future generations will forever draw inspiration from the unmatched courage and supreme sacrifice displayed by the Kargil bravehearts. Addressing the gathering in Dras, he noted that the historic Kargil triumph shines brightly like a precious diamond embedded in the crown of Mother India. The commemoration ceremony witnessed an overwhelming display of national pride and military precision, beginning with Ladakh Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, Army Chief General Dheeraj Seth, Northern Command GOC-in-C Lieutenant General Prateek Sharma, and several other senior military dignitaries laying solemn wreaths at the Dras War Memorial to honor the fallen soldiers.
Aerial Tribute and Emotional ‘Shaurya Sandhya’ Ceremony
The commemorative events reached an emotional crescendo when three military helicopters executed a precise ‘arrowhead’ formation over the war memorial, led by an Advanced Light Helicopter flanked by two Cheetal helicopters, showering flower petals to honor the immortal heroes. Adding to the patriotic fervor, the Indian Army organized a magnificent ‘Shaurya Sandhya’ cultural and ritualistic event amidst the evening rain in Dras. The ceremony vividly commemorated the indomitable spirit and grit showcased by Indian troops during Operation Vijay in 1999. During this special event, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh personally handed over sacred symbolic ‘Kalash’ (urns containing soil from battle sites) to the grief-stricken yet proud families of the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation, marking the ongoing 27th-anniversary celebrations of India’s historic victory over treacherous high-altitude peaks.
