Defense Minister Rajnath Singh warned the world – Indian Ocean is our courtyard, security will not be compromised.
Amidst global geopolitical turmoil and increasing tension on sea routes, India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has made the country’s intentions completely clear on the international platform. Addressing the bravehearts of the Indian Navy in the strategic naval city of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, the Defense Minister made it clear that India’s policy in the Indian Ocean Region is not of any kind of bullying or bullying, but of complete peace, stability and co-existence. However, at the same time, he gave a strong message to the expansionist forces outside the region and said that this entire maritime area is India’s own backyard and it is our highest national responsibility to ensure the sovereignty and security of our own backyard. Indigenous warship ‘Mahendragiri’ will be commissioned today: Brahmastra will join the naval fleet. This historic and very aggressive statement of the Defense Minister has come just a day before the Indian Navy’s sixth indigenous stealth frigate ‘Mahendragiri’ (Mahendragiri Frigate) is officially included in the naval fleet. On Saturday, July 11, 2026, this state-of-the-art, radar-evading warship equipped with weapons of mass destruction will be dedicated to protect the country’s maritime borders. Praising the combat capabilities of this warship built under Project 17A, Rajnath Singh said that this is the biggest proof of the self-reliance of the Indian defense industry and with its arrival, the firepower of the Indian Navy will increase manifold in the increasingly difficult global security environment. 90% trade and energy security at stake: Aim to make maritime surveillance more impenetrable Underlining the strategic and economic importance of the Indian Ocean, the Defense Minister shared in detail the challenges and priorities facing the country. Citing technical data, he said that more than 90 percent of India’s trade turnover and the entire energy security of the country directly depends on these sea routes. Additionally, India’s vast Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and strategic island territories are the backbone of our economic progress. In such a situation, the security of these areas cannot be allowed to weaken at any cost, for which the Navy is making its 24-hour surveillance system more modern. India keeping a close eye on the presence of external forces: Rajnath saluted the indomitable courage of the Navy. Expressing concern over the increasing geopolitical competition in the global maritime theater and unwanted activities of some elite military forces outside the region, the Defense Minister praised the quick response system of the Indian Navy. He said that the way the Indian Navy is protecting commercial ships in the Indian Ocean and giving a befitting reply to pirates and missile attacks, it has established India as a ‘net security provider’ on the global stage. Encouraging the soldiers, Rajnath Singh said that amidst the changing global circumstances, the Indian Navy is fully capable of protecting the economic and strategic interests of the country and is ready to respond to any misadventure.
