How the cab driver who raped a 10 year old girl was caught by the police

New Delhi: A very painful and shameful case of humanity had come to light from Chhatarpur area of ​​the country’s capital Delhi. Police on Tuesday arrested a 29-year-old cab driver who kidnapped an innocent 10-year-old girl who was sleeping on the roadside in the early hours of Monday.

The accused raped the girl inside the car and then brutally murdered her and threw the body in the forest. The heartbreaking thing is that the victim’s family had recently returned from their village and were forced to sleep on the footpath after being thrown out of the room by the landlord.

Within just six hours of receiving information about the incident, the police took action and caught the accused from Vikaspuri area when he was leaving a passenger. According to the HT report, the accused has been identified as Bashu Kumar Singh, who is originally from Chapra, Bihar and was currently living in Gurugram.

How the accused was caught by the police, complete timeline

  • According to the report, the accused cab driver had reached CDR Chowk in Chhatarpur under the influence of alcohol to take a ride.
  • After the ride was cancelled, he saw a 10-year-old girl sleeping alone with her family on the roadside and abducted her. This incident occurred around 4 am on Monday morning.
  • When the girl’s father opened his eyes, he saw that his daughter was missing. Then he heard his daughter screaming from a WagonR car. The father ran after the car with a stick in his hand, but the accused ran away with the car.
  • The family first tried to find the girl themselves, but when they failed, they informed the police at around 4:58 am.
  • The investigating officer reached the spot at 5:15 and a search was started based on the appearance of the vehicle.
  • The accused took the girl to Mandi village area, 2 kilometers away from there, where he raped the girl inside the car.
  • After this, he took the girl to Faridabad-Gurugram road and killed her by strangulating her and hitting her with a stone on her chest and threw the body in the forest.
  • Police examined the CCTV footage around the metro station and Chhatarpur Road. The number of the accused’s car was clearly visible in one of the footage. Based on this, the police traced the location and arrested the accused from Vikaspuri between 11 and 12 in the morning.
  • During the rigorous interrogation of about 5 hours, the accused kept changing his statement continuously. Upon being put under pressure, he confessed to his crime and took the police to the place where he had thrown the body. Police recovered the girl’s body at 5 pm.
  • When the police took the accused to the road of Mandi village to recreate the crime scene, the accused tried to run away by pushing two policemen. He snatched a policeman’s pistol and fired, after which the police shot him in the leg in self-defense. The injured accused has been admitted to Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital.
