Delhi Building Collapse: A day ago, a 5-storey building had collapsed in Satya Niketan area of Delhi, in which 6 people died. Many people were injured in the accident. The accident happened near the South Campus of Delhi University. Let us tell you, a PG was running in the collapsed building, in which many college students lived. After the accident, questions have again started being raised regarding the safety of the people living in the old buildings of Delhi.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reached the spot this morning. He said that together with the officials, we are making such a policy under which buildings which are 20, 30 or 40 years old will have to submit structural audit report. They will have to provide proof of their security. CM said that without proof, people will not have the right to run any public service or facility (nursing home, PG accommodation or any other activity including school). Strict rules will be implemented in this regard.
Responsible officers will be suspended
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on the Satya Niketan accident that the officials whose negligence caused this accident will not be spared. He will be suspended immediately. Strict instructions have been given to all officials and all municipal bodies. No officer involved in this will be spared.
Suspension of responsible officers today itself: CM
Giving instructions, the CM said that we will issue suspension orders of the officers responsible for the accident today itself. Fully stand with these students. The CM further said that we give clear instructions to the Municipal Corporation to ensure that no student faces any problem. All facilities will be provided by the government to the victims and the needy.
The administration is still removing debris
The debris of the building that collapsed in Delhi on Sunday afternoon is still being removed. So far 6 people have died. At the same time, 12 people are injured, out of which 5 are seriously injured. These people are being treated in Delhi AIIMS. There is still a possibility of many people being buried. People are being searched with the help of rescue dogs and cameras. This building was not declared dangerous in the records of Delhi Municipal Corporation i.e. MCD.
Delhi Police came into action mode
The name of the owner of the building is Hariram Bansal, who lives in Gurugram. Police have registered an FIR in the case under sections of culpable homicide and negligence. To arrest the accused, the police have formed 10 teams, which include people from the district police, special staff and other operation units. Each team will be led by an Additional DCP rank officer. Police are conducting raids in Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to catch Hariram.
Municipal Corporation issued order
Delhi Mayor Parvesh Wahi said that all illegal constructions with more than 4 floors will be sealed immediately. The guilty officers will be immediately dismissed. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the building collapse. MCD had issued an order on 6th September, in which they have issued a notice to demolish all the dilapidated and dangerous buildings built in Satya Niketan.
More buildings collapsed in Delhi this year
A five-storey building near Saket metro station in South Delhi collapsed within a few seconds on 30 May 2026. Six people died in the accident. Other than this, A building suddenly collapsed in Rohini Sector-16, Delhi. Three people have died in the accident. According to the information, work was going on on the building for 11 months.
