Delhi hotel fire: Agarwal family cremated together in Gurugram, relatives lit funeral pyre

Gurugram. Five members of the family of chartered accountant Vivek Aggarwal, who died in a fire in a hotel in the Malviya Nagar area of ​​the national capital, were cremated on Thursday at the crematorium in Sector-32, Gurugram. A relative said that Vivek was cremated by his cousin, his wife Tarjani was cremated by his brother, his mother Premlata was cremated by another relative and his daughters Jivisha and Waria were cremated by their cousins.

Eight members of Vivek’s family had gone to Delhi to meet his father Radheshyam Aggarwal, who was undergoing treatment at Max Hospital in Saket for several days. During this time, he was staying in the nearby Flourish Stay B&B located in Hauz Rani area of ​​Malviya Nagar, where the fire broke out on Wednesday.

Apart from Vivek and his close family members, his maternal uncle and maternal aunt, Jawarilal Agarwal (70) and Kamla Agarwal (68), residents of Gulab Bari in Ajmer, and another relative, Jhumri Lal Goyal, a marble merchant from Kishangarh, also died in the massive fire.

After postmortem at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, on Thursday, the bodies of Vivek, his wife, his two daughters and his mother were brought to their residence in Sector-46, Gurugram. At around 3.15 pm, the bodies were taken to the cremation ground, where they were cremated in the presence of neighbors and relatives.

Vivek’s neighbor Sushila Bhardwaj told that she often met Vivek’s mother Premlata while walking. Relatives said that Vivek was the financial head of ‘Insurance Dekho’ company. His wife, Tarjani, was a professional event manager and also ran an NGO for underprivileged children.

He told that Tarjani was also a model and had won the prestigious ‘Mrs. India’ title in 2023. Those close to Tarjani said that she was disciplined in her professional life as well as attached to her family. After the accident, Vivek’s house in Sector 46 is lying deserted and the main door is locked.

Vivek’s father Max is on ventilator in the hospital and his condition is said to be critical. Neighbors said that Vivek was a very polite, cheerful and always ready to help person. The entire locality is in shock. He says that a happy family which had gone to visit Delhi a few days ago was completely destroyed in this tragedy. Now there is no one left in Vivek’s family except his ailing father.

Jharkhand woman’s last rites in Bokaro

A woman from Jharkhand, who was among the 21 people killed in the fire at Flourish Stay B&B hotel in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, was cremated in Bokaro district on Thursday. The woman has been identified as Surbhi Baranwal (25). The woman’s family members said that she was a resident of Jaina More in Bokaro district and worked in a private company in Mumbai and often went to Delhi for office work.

Baranwal’s body was brought to his native place on Thursday and cremated at a cremation ground near Garga bridge in Chas. The woman’s brother Shubham Kumar told reporters at the cremation ground, “Yesterday Surabhi was talking to her mother when the fire broke out. The mother suddenly heard her scream and it seemed as if the phone had fallen from her hand. She was badly burnt and died during treatment.”

Kumar said that his family contacted some of Surbhi’s friends and then they came to know about the fire incident. Kumar told that she had gone to Delhi on Sunday for company work. On Wednesday, a massive fire broke out in a building in South Delhi in which 21 people were killed.
