New Delhi: The 22-year-old daughter of a senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer was allegedly raped and murdered in south-east Delhi’s posh Kailash Hills area on Wednesday morning. Police gave this information. According to the police, the girl was found dead in a room of her house. His family members saw his dead body. According to sources, preliminary investigation suggests that the girl, who was preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam, was sexually assaulted and then strangulated to death with a mobile phone charger cable. He told that the girl was alone in the house at the time of the incident.
Police said that the incident might have happened in the early hours when her parents had gone to the gym and she was alone at home. Investigators suspect that the accused took advantage of this short period of time to enter the house and commit the crime. According to the police, former domestic help of the house, Rahul Meena (19) is the main suspect. She worked at the house for about eight months, but was fired from her job about a month ago on charges of fudging the daily purchase bills. According to sources, Meena is completely aware of the house, including the design of the house and the daily routine of the family members. It is alleged that he knew when the victim’s parents go for a walk or to the gym. According to sources, the accused entered the house at around 6 in the morning, attacked the girl and sexually assaulted her. During this, the girl was allegedly beaten with sticks, due to which she suffered serious injuries on her face and head. After this the attacker strangled him with a mobile charging cable and then fled from the spot. Police said Meena is missing after the incident and a search operation has been launched to locate and arrest her. He was seen outside the house a few days ago also.
Police also said that the police have detained two people, including a car cleaner and a domestic helper from the area, for questioning. A senior police officer said, “The accused is absconding and several teams have been formed to nab him. We are investigating all angles and collecting evidence.” This incident has spread panic in this posh residential area. Local people have expressed concern about security in the area. A case has been registered and forensic teams have collected evidence from the spot. The investigators are examining the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the surrounding areas and interrogating those who may have had contact with the accused. Police said investigation is ongoing to find out the sequence of events.
