Under the project, rapid rail stations are likely to be built at Joya and Gajraula. With this, the people of the district will get the benefit of direct rapid rail service and the journey to Delhi will be completed in about 90 minutes. The vision report of this ambitious project worth about Rs 10 thousand crore is in the final stage and further process is expected to start soon at the government level.
The proposed rapid rail corridor will reach Delhi via Moradabad, Amroha, Hapur and Ghaziabad. This high-speed corridor will provide fast, safe and convenient transportation facilities to the passengers. It will also help in reducing the increasing traffic pressure on the National Highway. The survey conducted before the project revealed that the number of vehicles on Delhi Road and National Highway is continuously increasing. At present, about 16 thousand vehicles pass through Delhi Road every hour, while in future this number is expected to reach 25 thousand. At the same time, about 40 thousand vehicles pass through Joya and Brajghat toll every day. Experts believe that in future, arrangements like flyovers alone will not suffice, hence Rapid Rail has been proposed as a long-term solution.
Business and employment will get new momentum
Amroha district is expected to get the most benefits when the project is implemented. The proposed stations at Joya and Gajraula will make commuting to Delhi-NCR easier. This will boost trade, industry, tourism and investment and will also create new employment opportunities. Officials believe that this project will play an important role in the economic and industrial development of Western Uttar Pradesh.
Development from Hapur to Ghaziabad in the fourth phase
Under the project, there is also a plan to develop a modern Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Zero Point of Gajraula. This will establish better connectivity between bus and rapid rail and passengers will be able to get uninterrupted transportation facility. According to the proposed plan, the rapid rail corridor will be constructed in four phases. In the first phase, the corridor will be developed from Pakbara to Joya, in the second from Joya to Gajraula, in the third from Gajraula to Hapur and in the fourth phase from Hapur to Ghaziabad. Most of the track will be built over the National Highway, allowing both road and rail traffic to operate smoothly.
