Big action on pollution in Delhi: Petrol-diesel will not be available without PUC, Winter Action Plan will be implemented from November 1 to February 28.

Major action on Delhi pollution: With the onset of cold and festive season, the air quality of Delhi has started reaching poor category. There is a possibility of it increasing rapidly after Ravana Dahan on 20th October. When Delhi's air quality reached poor category, Rekha Gupta government has also come into action mode. Under the leadership of CM Rekha Gupta, the government has prepared a Winter Action Plan (Delhi Winter Action Plan) for 1 November to 28 February. Under the plan, petrol and diesel will not be available without PUC from November 1 to February 28. Besides, ban on entry of outside vehicles, monitoring of construction sites and work from home have also been included in the plan. Whereas taking action against places that violate rules will be an important link in this system.

Let us inform that under the Winter Action Plan, 'No PUC, No Fuel' policy will remain in force. This means that there will be increased strictness against those driving without Pollution Control Certificate (PUC) and there will be a ban on providing petrol and diesel to such vehicles.

Apart from this, there is also a plan to ban foreign vehicles below BS-VI standard. Its purpose is to reduce the movement of polluting vehicles in Delhi. However, the impact of these rules will depend on how they are implemented and how effective monitoring is. Dust blown from construction works is also a major cause of pollution in Delhi. To stop this, the government is emphasizing on increasing strictness at construction sites and monitoring through AI cameras.

Emphasis on work from home and public transport

The Delhi Winter Action Plan also includes promotion of 50 percent work from home. Along with this, emphasis will be laid on promoting buses, metro and last mile transport services, so that dependence on private vehicles can be reduced.
