A mega rally of INDIA Block has started at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan to protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list and demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. Leaders of more than 20 opposition parties including Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav and Mallikarjun Kharge have participated in the rally. The rally is to be organized till 5 pm.
Kharge targets central government
Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge targeted the Central Government from the stage of Ramlila Maidan. He said that the opposition will not let Gyanesh Kumar escape and will die only by removing him. Kharge alleged that this government is a stolen government and it will have to be removed. He also claimed that PM Modi and Amit Shah are protecting Gyanesh Kumar. During this he gave the slogan – 'Remove Modi, save democracy.'

There is a mega rally of 'INDIA' alliance at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. Top leaders of opposition parties as well as workers, student organizations and representatives of civil society are participating in this rally. A large number of supporters participated in the rally of INDIA Block. A video of the rally taken from a drone has surfaced, in which a huge crowd is seen at the venue.
March taken out from Minto Bridge to Ramlila Maidan
Before the Maharally, INDIA block leaders took out a march in Delhi. At around 11 am, MPs started gathering at the Constitution Club, while a meeting of senior alliance leaders was held at the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
After this, at around 12:30 pm the leaders started the march from Minto Bridge. The march reached Ramlila Maidan via Minto Road Junction and Ajmeri Gate. During this, a large number of supporters were seen with the leaders.
Rahul Gandhi's allegation- BJP forcibly closed shops
Addressing the rally, Rahul Gandhi alleged that shops in Connaught Place were forcibly closed amid the appeal to join the Maharally. He said, “We told people that if they come for the Maharally, then do shopping. But when we came to Connaught Place, we came to know that the BJP had forcibly closed the shops.” Rahul Gandhi raised the question that who will take responsibility for the loss suffered by the traders due to the closure of shops.
Surveillance with 250 CCTV cameras, strict security arrangements
In view of the rally at Ramlila Maidan, security arrangements have been strengthened. According to officials, the entire area is being monitored with 200 to 250 CCTV cameras. Barricading has been done in the ground and security personnel have been deployed in different zones. Eight gates have been made to enter the grounds, out of which three gates have been informed to be opened for the general public.

Many prominent leaders including Priyanka Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, Farooq Abdullah, Supriya Sule and KC Venugopal are present in the rally. This mega rally of opposition parties is being organized amid the political debate over the SIR process and the role of the Election Commission.
