Names of 30% voters may be deleted in Delhi! Do these important tasks by 17th August otherwise you will be removed from the voter list.

Delhi SIR: In the country's national capital Delhi, the Election Commission is conducting Voter List Revision. Now there is a fear that the names of 30% voters in Delhi will be removed from the voter list. August 17 is the last date for submission of enumeration form under SIR in Delhi. But more than 30% of the forms have not been returned yet. The draft voter list will be released on August 24. If more than 30% of the forms do not arrive, a large number of names may be missing in the draft voter list to be released on August 24.

However, according to the Election Commission, the absence of a name in the draft list does not mean that the voter's vote is lost forever. Even after this, there will be a chance to register claims and objections and the names of eligible voters can be included in the final list.

According to the Election Commission, the calculation phase of the third phase of SIR started from June 30, 2026 and will continue till August 17, 2026. There were 1,45,10,299 registered voters in Delhi till July. The work of delivering the enumeration forms to all the voters has been completed. That means form distribution has been 100 percent. The real challenge now is to get the forms back and verify them. According to officials, verification of documents of about 32 percent voters is still pending. The process of form submission and online submission will end on 17th August.

96,85,155 enumeration forms digitized so far in Delhi

According to the cumulative status report released on August 14, 2026 at 8 pm, 96,85,155 enumeration forms have been digitized so far in Delhi. This is 66.75 percent of the total 1,45,10,299 voters. This clearly means that despite the completion of form distribution, the process of digital verification has not yet reached the final stage.

Forms distributed to 1.45 crore voters

The draft voter list is to be published on August 24. Based on current data, it is expected that the names of about 30 percent of registered voters will not be included in this preliminary list. According to officials, more than 30 percent of the forms distributed to 1.45 crore voters have not been collected yet. Reasons like absenteeism, migration to another place, death and duplicate voters are being cited as the reasons behind this.

About 75 percent of the non-collected forms are said to be voters who have changed their address and moved to another place. A large number of people in Delhi live in rented houses and do not update the new address in the voter card after changing houses. In such a situation, verification of the voter present at the old address becomes difficult.

Voting will not end if name does not appear in draft list

Election officials have clarified that omission of name from the draft voter list does not mean permanent exclusion from the voter list. There will be an opportunity to lodge claims and objections from 24th August to 23rd September. If any eligible voter wants to register his name at a new address, he can apply through Form-6. After the completion of the claims and objections process, the names of eligible voters will be included in the final voter list. This final list will be published on October 27. Therefore, for those voters whose names are not found in the draft list of August 24, the period till September 23 will be very important.
