Delhi Rain Alert: U-turn of weather in Delhi-NCR! There will be heavy rain with strong winds; IMD alert issued
Delhi Rain Alert: For the people living in Delhi and its adjacent National Capital Region i.e. NCR areas, a big and relief news has come out regarding the weather. After the scorching heat and suffocating humidity for the last few days, the weather is now ready to take a complete turn. The Meteorological Department has predicted moderate to heavy rain in a large part of Delhi-NCR. This sudden change will not only put a brake on the rising mercury, but will also provide great relief to the people from the scorching sun. Looking at the dense dark clouds in the sky, it can be clearly predicted that the coming few hours are going to be very pleasant for the people of Delhi.
Meteorological Department’s orange alert and warning of strong winds
Considering the severity of the weather, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the area. According to the estimates of meteorologists, intense weather activity can be seen in many parts of Delhi as well as Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad between 5 pm and 7 pm. During this time, along with loud thunder, destructive winds blowing at a speed of 50 to 80 kilometers per hour can also affect people. The Meteorological Department says that this seasonal change is progressing very fast and due to its effect the entire NCR will get drenched in a short time.
There is a possibility of heavy showers and water logging in a short time
The most important thing that has come to light about this new weather system is that this rain will hit different areas at different times. Experts say that this period of rain will be active only for about 30 to 45 minutes in each particular area. Although this period of rain may seem very short, its intensity can be so high that it becomes a major reason for water logging in low-lying areas. This torrential rain, which occurs in the evening when people are returning from their offices to their homes, can affect the road traffic for some time.
Impact of atmospheric instability in North-West India
The main reason behind this sudden major change in weather is believed to be the huge instability in the atmosphere of North-West India. Actually, at this time the moisture filled winds are moving rapidly in the area. When the hot air present near the ground surface came in contact with these moisture-laden cold air, it resulted in the rapid formation of huge thunderclouds in the sky. This is the reason why suddenly the sunlight disappeared and the entire area was hidden behind the clouds. Due to this atmospheric pressure, this period of strong storm and rain is going to start.
Administration issued important advisory
In view of the possibility of bad weather and strong storm, the local administration and meteorological department have also issued an important advisory for the common people. People have been asked to exercise utmost caution during this intense seasonal activity. When there is a strong storm or lightning, do not under any circumstances take shelter under a tree or any weak and temporary structure. Apart from this, instructions have also been given to keep the windows of the houses closed and not to go out in the open fields unless absolutely necessary so that any kind of loss of life and property can be avoided.
Traffic alert for those returning home from office
Since this rain is going to occur during the evening peak hours, there is every possibility of heavy traffic jams on all the major national highways and main roads connecting Delhi to Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad. Due to accumulation of water on the roads, the speed of vehicles may slow down. For this reason, drivers have been advised to leave with some extra time to reach their destination and control their speed while driving on wet roads.
Freedom from pollution and waiting for a pleasant evening
Another biggest benefit of this rain is going to be the air of Delhi-NCR. Due to this heavy rain, the dust particles and other pollutants floating in the air for some time will settle on the ground, due to which there will be a temporary improvement in air quality. Although, just before the rain starts, clouds of dust may blow at some places due to strong winds, but as soon as the water drops fall, the weather will become completely clear and clean. The huge drop in temperature after this heavy rain is going to gift a very pleasant and cool evening to the people of Delhi.
