Shribhoomi: On the initiative of MLA Milan Das, a delegation of local representatives and BJP leaders met the General Manager of North-East Frontier Railway regarding the expansion of rail connectivity and passenger facilities in Hailakandi and Katlichadha areas. During this, various long pending rail related demands of the region were highlighted and a request was made for their immediate resolution. The delegation prominently placed the demand of giving stoppage of Shilchar Sairang Kolkata train at Katlichhada railway station.
Also, a request was made to increase the stopping time of trains at Hailakandi Railway Station by at least five minutes, so that passengers, especially the elderly, women and children, can get adequate facilities in boarding and de-boarding the train. Demand for direct train from Hailakandi to Bengaluru: An important long standing demand of the area residents is to start a direct train service from Hailakandi to Bengaluru. Placing this demand before the Railway General Manager, the delegation said that the start of direct train service will provide great relief to students, working people, patients and common passengers.
This will also strengthen the region's rail connectivity with South India. Emphasis on improving the passenger facilities of the station: During the meeting, the issue of development of passenger facilities and infrastructure of Hailakandi Railway Station was also raised prominently. The delegation demanded expansion of adequate seating arrangements, better passenger rest rooms, clean and convenient toilets and other necessary passenger facilities at the station.
According to the delegation, the General Manager of North-East Frontier Railway listened to all the demands seriously and expressed positive stance on various issues. The delegation expressed hope that with further positive action on these demands, the people of Hailakandi and Katlichadha areas will benefit from better rail connectivity and passenger facilities. Efforts will continue on issues of public interest. During this important meeting, Hailakandi Municipality Chairman Manab Chakraborty, senior BJP worker Rajkumar Das and former BJP District President Swapan Bhattacharya and other representatives were present.
Local representatives said that efforts will continue to address the legitimate demands of the people of the area and issues related to broader public interest. Describing better rail connectivity as important for the social and economic development of Hailakandi-Katlichhada, he expressed his commitment to take necessary steps in the interest of the people of the area. This initiative, based on the demand for train stoppage at Katlichada, Hailakandi-Bengaluru direct train service and modernization of Hailakandi railway station, is being considered an important step towards better rail connectivity and expansion of passenger facilities in the region.
