The demand to declare Nepal a Hindu nation is growing. This issue is no longer limited to organizations and protests, but ordinary people are also demanding direct answers from their representatives. MPs in affected areas are being surrounded and demanded to speak openly in favor of the safety and rights of the Hindu community.
Protests in Front of MP
In Siraha District, National Independent Party MP Bablu Gupta faced massive protests from the public. The protesters said that they had supported their representatives with the hope of change and restoring Nepal to a Hindu nation, but now their expectations are being ignored.
Communal Violence Has Cooled
The violence that began in Nepal on the night of July 26th has now subsided. The tense situation in several districts is now under control. However, following this incident, Hindu organizations have submitted a 15-point memorandum to the government, demanding several major decisions, including introducing a resolution in Parliament to re-declare Nepal a Hindu nation.
The memorandum calls for an impartial investigation into the violence in Dewanganj, Sunsari district, the immediate arrest of the perpetrators and conspirators, and the public disclosure of the investigation committee’s report. It also calls for the identification of the officers who ordered the firing and legal action against them. Strict action is also demanded against those responsible for administrative negligence and security lapses.
The memorandum also demands the recognition of martyrdom for those who lost their lives in the incident, adequate compensation for their families, and free and effective treatment for the injured. It also calls for introducing a parliamentary resolution to re-establish Nepal as a “Vedic Sanatan Hindu nation,” respecting Buddhist and Kirat traditions. The organizations have also demanded the identification and expulsion of Rohingya, Bangladeshi, and Pakistani infiltrators, strengthening of border security, and the investigation of Nepali citizenships issued after 1990.
What did PM Balen Shah say?
PM Balen Shah stated that the restoration of a Hindu nation is linked to the issue of monarchy. Therefore, taking such a decision into account would be inappropriate given the current circumstances. He stated that the government is committed to a federal system and will adhere to it firmly. He stated that declaring a Hindu nation would weaken the federal system.
