Lucknow. The Health Department has taken strict action against the accused demanding Rs 6,000 in the name of operation delivery at BKT's Ram Sagar Mishra Hospital. Taking cognizance of the viral video, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak directed for immediate action. Accused Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Pooja Singh was removed from the hospital and sent to Mal CHC, while OT Attendant Devendra Kumar Singh has been dismissed.

It is alleged that Lalla, a resident of Bhawanipur, had taken his pregnant wife Dharmi to the hospital on Wednesday morning. The doctor advised operation and after taking him to OT, six thousand rupees were demanded from the family. When he expressed his inability to pay the money, he was asked to postpone the operation and take the patient to another hospital. The department swung into action after the video of the incident went viral on social media.

This entire episode will be investigated by Divisional Surveillance Officer Dr. Umesh Sachan. Deputy CM has asked for the investigation report within a week. More strict action will be taken against those found guilty in the investigation. Additional charge of Ram Sagar Mishra Hospital has been handed over to Dr. Shaba Afrin of Itaunja CHC. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said that those harassing patients and attendants will not be spared. Strict action will be taken against them.
