Bhopal. The state government has snatched the pension of Ratlam Forest Division Deputy Ranger Abdul Tanveer Khan (now retired) after he was sentenced by the court for demanding bribe in exchange for releasing the illegal transport vehicle. On March 16, 2021, the accused Khan demanded Rs 1 lakh 20 thousand for releasing the vehicles of people involved in illegal transportation and as the first installment, he was caught red-handed by the Ujjain Lokayukta police while taking a bribe of Rs 25 thousand.
Suleman Khan, a resident of Sheranipura, had lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta that the Deputy Ranger was demanding bribe from the complainant in exchange for releasing the vehicle loaded with wood, issuing TP (Transport Permission) for transporting the wood from the Forest Department and not holding the vehicle in future. The state government had given prosecution approval against this Deputy Ranger Khan on 24 January 2023. Khan retired on 30 September 2024. Special Court Ratlam found him guilty on 14 December 2025 and sentenced him to 4 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2,000. Now as per the instructions of the General Administration Department, the pension of retired Deputy Ranger Khan, punished in a criminal case, has been stopped permanently.
The loss will be recovered from the assets of the SDO of PWD.
Here, the state government decided to recover the loss of government money from the properties of retired SDO VK Manwani, who was posted in the PWD sub-division of Raisen. Actually, due to Manwani’s actions the government had suffered a loss of Rs 14 lakh 6 thousand 512. Therefore, after investigation, it has been decided to recover from him an amount equivalent to one increment and 1/3 of the total amount of loss of government money i.e. Rs 4 lakh 68 thousand 837 from the properties due to him.
