The Crime Branch of Delhi Police averted a major incident by arresting a crazy and fugitive husband who was plotting to murder his wife. The accused had already fatally attacked his wife with a knife thrice and was preparing to kill her for the fourth time after his release from jail.
According to DCP Harsh Indora, the arrested accused has been identified as Sajid Ali, a resident of JJ Colony, Bindapur. On June 2, the Dwarka court had declared him a fugitive in a case of attempt to murder. On the information of informer, Crime Branch caught him from Ikram Nagar area of Loni.
Inspector Gautam Malik’s team under the direction of DCP Amit Sharma and ACP Rajpal Dabas started surveillance near Labor Chowk. As soon as Sajid reached there with one of his companions, he started running away after seeing the police, but he was chased and arrested.
During interrogation it emerged that Sajid was married in 2015. Two of his children died shortly after birth. After this incident, he became a victim of superstition and obsession and started holding his wife responsible for the death of his children. Later he became addicted to alcohol and drugs. He used to ask for money from his wife for drugs and used to beat her when she protested.
In the year 2021, he attacked his wife with a knife thrice consecutively, after which a case of attempt to murder was registered in Dabri police station and he went to jail. Even after his release in November 2024, his anger did not subside. In 2025, he again attacked his wife fatally and absconded. He was declared a fugitive due to frequent change of locations and failure to appear in court. The police arrested the accused and presented him in the court, from where he was sent to jail in judicial custody.
