Game Desk: Indian cricket team's star batsman Devdutt Padikkal has recently spoken openly about his brilliant Test tour and excellent performance against Sri Lanka. Making full use of the opportunity given in the absence of Sai Sudarshan, Padikkal scored runs in the series and won the title of 'Player of the Series'. He scored a total of 328 runs in three innings at an average of over 109, including two brilliant centuries and his highest score of 167 runs.
Expressing his happiness in a video shared by BCCI, Padikkal said that this was the right opportunity for him to prove himself and show that he can score big runs. “I have done this throughout my first-class career, and now I am very happy that it has been proven in Tests as well,” he said. Talking about the challenge of spin on Sri Lankan pitches, he said that he had made special preparations to face spin before this series, which completely paid off on the field.
This brilliant performance of Padikkal comes after his excellent domestic season and IPL. Playing for Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy, he scored 543 runs at an average of 60.33, which included a marathon inning of 232 runs against Uttarakhand. Apart from this, in Vijay Hazare Trophy he scored 725 runs at an average of 90.62, which included four centuries. Even in IPL 2026, he performed brilliantly for RCB and scored 464 runs in 16 matches. Padikkal, who has maintained his consistency from domestic cricket to international level, wants to maintain this confidence in his career also.
