Swara's argument was that if there is a serious problem like rape facing women in the society, then associating Jauhar with honor and bravery can give a wrong message. His question was whether a rape victim should be considered less brave or less respectable because she decided to stay alive instead of ending her life?

Swara Bhaskar had raised questions on this issue in her statement and said that does the society want to give the message to women that if sexual violence happens to them then their life is over? He asked whether after a woman is raped, she should not have any respectable option other than suicide? Swara said that such thinking can be extremely harmful for rape victims. According to him, sexual violence against a woman is not the end of her life and the victim has every right to live further.
