‘Dhurandhar’ star Rakesh Bedi reveals he almost turned down Aditya Dhar’s offer

Rakesh Bedi has revealed how Dhurandhar changed the course of his career, despite his reservations about starring in director Aditya Dhar’s first project.

In an exclusive interview with Farah Khan on her YouTube channel, Bedi, who portrays the role of Jamaal Jameeli in the film, opened up about his hesitation in working with Dhar on his first film.

Recalling how he almost turned down the offer when he was first approached for URIBedi explained that it was his daughter who inspired him to sign up for the role.

Pointing to Ritika, he said, “She insisted, ‘Dad, he’s a new director and very promising. Please do the film,’” he shared.

His wife quickly chimed in, adding, “Her argument was that if veterans refuse to work with new directors, it won’t be fair.”

“It becomes a cycle, then nobody gets a chance. That’s when I agreed. Later, Aditya came and told me, ‘Sir, you have to do it,’” he expressed.

Bedi portrays an ISI agent secretly working for RAW, and even received recognition for his dialogue, “Bacha hai tu mera.”

For the unversed, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has left a lasting impact on viewers across the world, changing the scope of Indian cinema.
