Did the police use excessive force? Hearing in Parliament March case will be held today in Delhi High Court

New Delhi: Delhi Police’s action against protesters during the Parliament march has now reached the court. In this case, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Delhi High Court, in which it has been alleged that the police used excessive force against the agitators marching from Jantar Mantar towards Parliament. Now this petition will be heard in Delhi High Court on Wednesday.

Public interest litigation filed against police action

It has been said in the petition that the police adopted a strict attitude towards the people who were marching peacefully and used excessive force. The petitioner has demanded the court to conduct an impartial investigation into the matter and issue appropriate guidelines in such cases in future.

Regarding the matter, it was also said that it is the right of the citizens to protest democratically and during such events, along with maintaining law and order, civil rights should also be respected.

Demand for immediate hearing not accepted

On Tuesday, this petition was mentioned before the bench of Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay and Justice Tejas Karia. A request was made on behalf of the petitioner for immediate hearing of the case, but the court did not accept it.

The bench said that the court should not be dragged into every case for immediate intervention. Along with this, the court clarified that the petition will be heard on Wednesday as per the prescribed procedure.

Important hearing will be held in court today

Now all eyes are on the hearing to be held on Wednesday. The court will see what further action should be taken on the allegations made in the petition and whether any independent investigation or other directions are required in this matter.

If the court accepts the petition in the preliminary hearing, then Delhi Police can also be asked to answer on this entire incident. At the same time, during the hearing, the incidents that happened during the demonstration and facts related to police action are also likely to be discussed.
