After the crushing defeat of Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the West Bengal Assembly elections, there has been a tremendous earthquake within the party. After the electoral setback, now the political ‘Rahu period’ seems to have started for Mamata Banerjee as well as her nephew and party’s number two leader Abhishek Banerjee. The situation has become so critical that everyone from MLAs to MPs are leaving TMC.
Anger came out openly against Abhishek Banerjee
After this defeat, the anger of the party leaders regarding the working style of Abhishek Banerjee has now openly come to the surface. Senior TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee has openly expressed his feelings by adopting a rebellious attitude against Abhishek. Now another party MP Kirti Azad has also entered this whole controversy. Kirti Azad has openly supported Kalyan Banerjee and has completely justified his anger. Along with this, he has expressed hope that ‘Didi’ i.e. Mamata Banerjee will soon intervene and fix everything.
‘Ultimatum’ placed in front of Mamata Banerjee
The dissatisfaction emerging within TMC after the defeat in West Bengal has now come out of closed rooms and has become public. Party MP Kalyan Banerjee has directly given a big ultimatum to Chief Minister and party chief Mamata Banerjee like ‘choose me or Abhishek Banerjee’. After this ultimatum, discussions about the deep differences and factionalism going on within TMC have intensified in political circles. However, amidst this huge speculation, Kirti Azad has expressed confidence that Mamata Banerjee herself will soon intervene and resolve this entire domestic dispute.
Kalyan Banerjee is a fighter, his anger is justified: Kirti Azad
During a special conversation with news agency ANI, Kirti Azad defended Kalyan Banerjee and said that he is a very old and completely dedicated leader of the party and he is not going anywhere. Azad said, ‘Kalyan Banerjee is a true fighter. He has stood firmly with Didi since the initial days of his political journey and will remain with her in future also. He is a very emotional person and his feelings should be fully respected.
Kirti Azad further admitted that this big resentment of Kalyan Banerjee cannot be taken lightly or ignored. According to him, in a very important legal matter of the party, without taking Kalyan Banerjee into confidence, the responsibility was handed over to another lawyer in his place. Because of this his anger burst out which is absolutely natural. Kirti Azad said in an admonishing tone that the party should have given information before taking any such decision. It was not appropriate in any way to give such information at the last moment. His anger is completely justified in its place, but I am confident that Didi herself will talk to him and everything will be fine soon.
