New Delhi: Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha addressed questions over his silence on the NEET paper leak controversy, saying his responsibilities had changed after moving from the opposition benches to the treasury bench. He said his focus had shifted from merely raising concerns to working towards finding solutions.
During the discussion of the Public Examination (Amendment) Bill, 2026, he said that while earlier he used questions in order to highlight the problems, now he should think of the solutions to the problem.
“While earlier when I was in opposition, my job was to ask questions, today sitting on the treasury bench, my job is to find solutions,” he said in Rajya Sabha.
Outcomes, Not Media Attention;
According to Chadha, he could have been seen on TV screens many times talking about the matter, but he chose to keep quiet until something meaningful was being done in order to solve the problem.
He stressed that his main objective was not to make headlines in the media, but rather to help improve the exam system.
“Not anymore will be my job to mark attendance in front of the camera. Now my job is to fix the system,” Chadha said.
He stressed further that he had chosen to talk about the matter in parliament when the matter was being solved.
Exam Security to Improve Under New Bill
The chairman supported the Public Examinations (Amendment) Bill saying that the new law would make the examination process strong and would also prevent any malpractice.
The bill would guarantee transparency in the exams as well as ensure that merit is preserved while anyone involved in leaking papers would get stringent punishment.
“Fair exam, merit preserved, the mafia jailed and the government would act as the policeman.”
Student Support in Parliament
Moreover, Chadha extended his support to students who were facing issues due to examination irregularities and highlighted that the government had responded to their problems with policies.
He stated that the authorities have heard the demands of students and have tried their best to make the situation better.
These comments were made in the context of the protests carried out by the students due to irregularities in the competitive examinations.
