An Instagram account named ‘Dimagi Naxal Party’ surfaced recently and attracted more than 1.6 lakh followers within a day, only to disappear shortly afterwards.
The sudden rise and disappearance of the account has sparked curiosity over who operated the handle and why it was taken down or became unavailable.
According to information visible on Instagram, the account was created this month. It had 62 posts and followed around 35 accounts before it disappeared. The account’s username history also indicated that the username had been changed once.
However, no information was available about the identity of the person or group operating the account.
‘Dimagi Naxal’ reference in PM Modi’s speech
The emergence of the account comes shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the term “dimagi Naxal” during his Independence Day address.
While speaking about the government’s fight against Maoism, Modi said the country had succeeded in eliminating armed Naxals from forests but warned that “dimagi (intellectual) Naxals” continued to pose a challenge.
The phrase subsequently drew attention online, with the appearance of an Instagram handle using the same terminology adding another layer of interest.
Account disappears after rapid growth
The account’s rapid growth was particularly notable. It reportedly accumulated more than 1.6 lakh followers in just one day, despite having appeared only recently.
Before disappearing, the handle had published dozens of posts. However, there was no publicly available information establishing who was behind the account or whether it had any connection to an organised group.
The reason for the account’s disappearance was also not immediately clear.
The development highlights how quickly newly created social-media accounts can attract significant attention, particularly when their names coincide with politically charged terms or statements that are already generating public discussion.
At present, there is no confirmed information about the identity of the account’s operators or their purpose.
