Dindori, July 10. Heavy rains in Dindori district of Madhya Pradesh for two consecutive days have disrupted life. Due to rain, the water level of Narmada river is rising rapidly, due to which a bridge in Dindori city and the bridge located at Jogi Tikaria on Jabalpur-Amarkantak National Highway have been submerged in water. Vehicular movement has been completely stopped on both the bridges.
Police have installed barricades and ropes on the bridges to prevent people from crossing the water. As a precautionary measure, police forces have been deployed in the affected areas. The administration is constantly monitoring the water level of Narmada and the situation in the low-lying areas situated on the banks of the river.
Seven families were evacuated to a safe place
Due to increase in the water level of Narmada river, danger has also increased in the low lying areas situated on the banks. As a precautionary measure, the administration has shifted seven families living on the river banks to shelter homes built in safe areas. Officials are also continuously monitoring the situation in Hans Nagar and Saket Nagar.
Dindori Collector Anju Pawan Bhadauria and Superintendent of Police Ashish Khare inspected Maa Narmada Bridge and other affected areas. He has instructed the officials to keep constant vigil and start relief and rescue operations immediately if needed.
7 year old child dies after house collapses
A painful accident also took place in the district amid heavy rains. Seven-year-old child Raja died after a mud house collapsed late Saturday night in Nadia Tola of Karunda Gram Panchayat of Gadasarai police station area. The police took out the child's body from the debris and handed it over to the family after post-mortem.
Schools and Anganwadi closed on 10th August
In view of continuous heavy rains and safety of children, Dindori district administration has ordered closure of all government and private schools from nursery to class 12 on August 10. All Anganwadi centers in the district will also remain closed on Monday.
However, teachers and other school staff have been instructed to be present at their respective workplaces. The administration has appealed to the people to avoid going to waterlogging and flood affected areas and follow the safety instructions issued by the administration.
