‘Disaster’ at Aryan’s tea shop, why was it raided after Akhilesh Yadav’s visit?
These days a new discussion has started in the politics of Uttar Pradesh regarding ‘tea’. The matter is of Fatehpur district, where a few days ago, Samajwadi Party chief and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had made headlines by stopping at a simple tea stall. But now the same tea shop has come on the radar of the administration. On Saturday, the Food and Safety Department team suddenly visited ‘Aryan’s Tea Shop’ and threatened, after which there was a stir in the area.
In fact, the department has now started noticing shortcomings in the shop where the former Chief Minister had sipped tea with great gusto. It is being told that during the raid, the team found many things which were against the food standards. Various types of discussions have started among the local people and political circles regarding this action. Some are calling it a routine investigation, while others are looking at it from a political perspective.
Testing of aluminum utensils and samples
When the team of Food and Safety Department reached Aryan’s shop, the methods of making tea and the utensils used were thoroughly examined. According to officials, tea was being boiled in aluminum utensils at the shop. According to health standards, boiling tea or any sour thing in aluminum utensils for a long time is considered harmful to health.
The team not only raised objection on the utensils, but also examined the material being used there. Samples of tea leaves and milk have been taken from the spot. These samples have been sealed and sent to the lab for testing. Officials say that further legal action will be taken only after the report comes. Till then, shopkeepers have been given strict instructions to maintain cleanliness and standards.
That ‘tea picture’ of Akhilesh Yadav
At the center of this entire action is that picture, which had gone viral on social media recently. Akhilesh Yadav was on a tour of Fatehpur and during this time he stopped his car and drank tea at this small hut of Aryan. Many other party leaders were also present with him. At that time this seemed to be a normal political etiquette and part of ‘connecting with the public’.
But as soon as the Food Department team reached there, this simple incident took a political turn. Local people say that no such major investigation had ever been conducted at this shop before. The shopkeeper also looked a little uneasy about this sudden raid. However, the department argues that they keep checking the quality of food items by running campaigns from time to time and this is part of the same process.
Murmur in political circles
‘Tea’ has always been a big issue in UP politics. Now this incident in Fatehpur has given Samajwadi Party another opportunity to attack the government. Supporters allege that wherever the opposition leaders go or whomever they meet, the administration later arrives to harass them. In fact, this is not the first time that local shopkeepers have had to face such situations after the visit of a big leader.
At present, everyone’s eyes are on the lab report. Was there really adulteration in tea leaves and milk, or is it just a coincidence that the department woke up as soon as the former CM left? This will become clear only after investigation. But it is certain that the name of this ‘Aryan Chai Tapri’ of Fatehpur has now been registered in the pages of state politics.
