The case of the death of Disha Salian, former manager of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, is once again in the headlines. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR in the case on Monday and started investigation. This action has been taken after the order of Bombay High Court, in which the court had directed for CBI investigation on the petition of Disha's father Satish Salian.

During the hearing on September 2, the High Court had raised serious questions regarding the investigation of Mumbai Police. The court had also questioned why the FIR was not registered until almost six years after the incident and why the case was seen only as an accident.
Father made serious allegations, raised demand for investigation
Disha's father Satish Salian has been demanding re-investigation of the case for a long time. He alleges that a crime was committed against his daughter and an attempt was made to suppress the entire matter. He had also demanded registration of FIR against many people including Aditya Thackeray.
When the CBI investigation started, he said that he had been waiting for this action for about six years. Expressing his gratitude towards the court, he said that due to the loss of his daughter, it cannot be called a happy occasion, but now he is feeling relieved.

Advocate Nilesh Ojha, who was representing the family on behalf of Disha, had also clarified that action should be taken against only the person against whom sufficient evidence comes to light during the investigation. He said that no one should be made an accused if evidence is not found.
What was revealed in the old police investigation?
Disha died on 8 June 2020 in Malad area of Mumbai. A few days later, on June 14, Sushant Singh Rajput was also found dead in his house in Bandra, Mumbai. Despite the time difference between the two incidents, Disha's case later got linked to the discussions of Sushant case.
After initial investigation, Mumbai Police had considered Disha's death as suicide in October 2020. This investigation was closed in about three months. In December 2023, the matter again came up for discussion and an SIT was formed and the investigation was taken forward. Even in the subsequent investigation, the police maintained the conclusion of suicide.
The police, in their 2025 affidavit, had also denied any conspiracy, saying that the available witnesses and forensic investigation had revealed suicide. According to the police, Disha was under stress and had consumed alcohol before the incident. Her fiance had also denied any wrongdoing.

Questions also raised regarding postmortem report
During the hearing of the case, questions were also raised regarding Disha's postmortem. The court was told that the postmortem was done by one doctor, whereas as per the relevant guidelines, two doctors should have been present. The report also revealed injuries on different parts of the body.
At the same time, the police has said that during the investigation, not enough evidence related to sexual assault or murder was found. Now after the FIR is registered by the CBI, there will be a fresh investigation in the case and the allegations and facts revealed in the earlier investigation will be re-examined.
