Ingredients required to make Diwali lamp shaped Shakkarpara
Approximately 20 Shakkarpara can be prepared with this recipe.
- 250 grams flour.
- 75 grams desi ghee.
- 150 grams sugar.
- 1 teaspoon chopped mixed nuts.
- Desi ghee or oil as required for frying.
- A few threads of saffron.
- Cardamom seeds as per requirement.
- Water as required to knead the dough.
How to make lamp shaped Shakkarpara at home?
First of all, take flour in a vessel and add desi ghee to it and mix well. Now knead a stiff dough by adding water as required. Cover the dough and keep it aside for about 10 minutes, so that it sets well.
After this, make small balls of the dough and give them the shape of a lamp with the help of hands. Keep in mind that all the lamps should be of approximately the same size, so that they can be fried evenly.
Now heat ghee or oil in a deep pan. Keep the flame low and fry the prepared lamps carefully. When they are cooked properly and become golden and crunchy, take them out and keep them upside down, so that the excess ghee or oil can drain off.
After this comes the turn of preparing the syrup. Put sugar and half cup of water in a vessel and heat it. Cook it until the sugar dissolves completely. Test by putting a few drops of syrup in water. When the drop of syrup starts freezing in water, it can be considered ready. To enhance the taste, saffron threads and cardamom can also be added to it.
Now put the fried lamp shaped sugar balls in the prepared syrup and keep them immersed for 2 to 3 minutes. After this, take them out and arrange them in a plate. Garnish by adding chopped mixed nuts on top.
In this way your Diwali special lamp shaped Shakkarparas will be ready. This time during the festival, serve this special sweet to the guests at home and share the happiness of Diwali with a delicious dish made with your own hands.
