The U.S. dollar fell against the Vietnamese dong on Friday morning as it edged lower against some major currencies.
Vietcombank sold the greenback at VND26,020, down 0.3% from Thursday. The currency was up 0.15% to around VND26,180 at unofficial exchange points.
The State Bank of Vietnam lowered its reference rate by 0.02% to VND25,629.
Globally the dollar dipped slightly in the Asia session on Friday to put the brakes on recent gains as US yields headed for their biggest weekly drop in about three months, Reuters reported.
The Australian dollar rose 0.2% to $0.6975 and sterling rose 0.1% to $1.3243. The New Zealand dollar was last up about 0.2% to $0.5614 and flat for the week.
The yen headed for a fourth straight weekly drop, though moves in the last three of those weeks have been very small as it has steadied around 158 yen to the dollar.
The euro was set for a fifth straight week in the red. It last fetched $1.122, straddling the 17-month low it touched earlier this week on French debt worries.
