Donald Trump Statue: A gold-plated statue of US President Donald Trump has been installed in the European Parliament building, which has been named 'Orange Plague'. In this 2.5 meter high statue, American leader Donald Trump is shown overweight and naked. He is holding a long golden rod in his hand and is sitting on the shoulders of a short man. Danish artist Jens Galchiot is said to have coated the sarcophagus with 23-carat gold.
This statue kept inside the building in Strasbourg, France is also known as 'King of Injustice'. The description card below the statue reads – 'I am sitting on the back of a man. He is sinking under my burden. It is further written – 'I will do anything to help him. Except the king of injustice got off his back.
This is a direct attack by the artist on Donald Trump's attitude towards climate change. He described the statue as 'a satirical protest against the American attack on the green transition and the rules-based world order. This statue is standing at the intersection connecting the two buildings of Parliament, where it will remain till Thursday (October 08, 2026). The 2.5 meter high statue, titled 'Orange Plague', depicts the American leader as overweight and naked. He is holding a long gold club and is sitting on the shoulders of a short man.
has also been shown in Brazil
Per Clausen, the leftist leader who invited the artist, told news outlet DW that if someone is so sensitive that he cannot tolerate the exhibition of this statue in the European Parliament, then he has no place on the world stage. Donald Trump has not commented on this statue. The statue was displayed in other cities across Europe as well as at the COP30 UN climate conference held in Belém, Brazil last year. It is being said that it will be taken to the COP31 UN Climate Conference to be held in Türkiye in November. However, this is not the first time Mr Galeschiot has used his political views as inspiration for artwork.
Statue commemorating the Eldorado massacre
In 2000, the artist installed a sculpture named 'Pillar of Shame' in Belém. The statue commemorates the Eldorado massacre, in which 19 landless people were killed by military police. This statue still exists in Brazil.
