It was a star-studded trailer launch of Toxic held in Bangalore. The launch was attended by Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth, Akshay Oberoi and director Geetu Mohandas.
During the event, Yash finally addressed rumours surrounding the film’s delayed release and speculation that it had been “shelved.” The actor hit back at such reports while opening up about the extensive effort that went into making the much-awaited film.
Speaking at the trailer launch, Yash said, “Every 10th day or 20th day, there will be news about a film being shelved, a film being stopped. I don’t know from where they write these stories.” The actor revealed that Toxic was shot for around 200 days and explained the reason behind the long gap. Yash added, “It might look like I’ve taken a long gap, trust me. We started August 8, two years ago. This film was shot for 200 days. We have shot two versions.”
Actor Yash also heaped praise on his Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups co-star Kiara Advani while speaking at the film’s trailer launch in Bengaluru, highlighting the challenges actors face and the importance of staying true to their convictions.
Speaking about Kiara and her work in the film, Yash said actors have to go through several challenges while bringing a character to life. He emphasised that performers should follow what they believe in despite the pressures that come with the profession.
“What you have to go through as an actor, unfortunately, whatever you believe in, you should do,” Yash said.
The actor also praised Kiara for the way she approached her role in the film, which has generated considerable buzz for its bold themes, action and intense character dynamics.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is a gangster drama that brings Yash together with a prominent ensemble cast, including Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth. Yash has previously spoken about the director’s distinctive perspective, particularly her female gaze and approach to storytelling in a large-scale action film.
The film has been among the most anticipated releases of the year, with its promotional material drawing attention to its action-packed world, stylised visuals and exploration of relationships and desire. The makers have confirmed a theatrical release for August 26, 2026.
For Yash, Toxic marks another major project following the success of the KGF franchise. The actor’s collaboration with Mohandas has also been positioned as a departure from conventional action cinema, with the filmmaker bringing a distinct emotional and character-driven perspective to the genre.
