Dorohedoro Season 3: Release details, cast updates and everything we know so far
The swamp of chaos is dragging fans right back down for another round. Immediately following the broadcast finale of the second season on May 27, 2026, TOHO Co. officially broke the silence to announce that Dorohedoro Season 3 is officially in active production.
After waiting six long years for Caiman and Nikaido to return in the Spring 2026 broadcast block, the production committee isn’t letting the momentum drop this time. Here is the layout of everything we know so far about the upcoming third season.
Dorohedoro Season 3 Release Timeline
While TOHO formally greenlit the sequel, they have not yet pinned down a specific calendar release date or window.
However, because the announcement noted that production is already active, industry tracking points heavily toward a late 2027 or early 2028 release slot.
Historically, dark fantasy projects under Studio MAPPA that heavily rely on stylized 3D/2D hybrid environments require a dense, year-long rendering and layout cycle. Because the series streams almost simultaneously worldwide across premium platforms like Crunchyroll and Netflix, extra time will also be allotted to finalize global dubbing tracks ahead of launch night.
Production Team & Studio Continuity
The absolute best news for the fandom is that the central creative force behind the show’s signature grime-and-goro aesthetic is staying entirely intact. The core returning production staff includes:
- Animation Studio: MAP
- Series Director: Yuichiro Hayashi (Attack on Titan Final Season)
- Series Composer & Scriptwriter: Hiroshi Seko (Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man)
- Character Designer: Tomohiro Kishi
- Music Composition: (K)NoW_NAME (the musical collective responsible for the show’s chaotic, industrial punk soundtracks)
To commemorate the Season 3 announcement, director Yuichiro Hayashi personally released a festive, custom illustration featuring the demonic character Haru to celebrate the quick renewal with fans.
Dorohedoro Season 3 Projected Cast
The foundational Japanese and English voice casts are fully expected to return to the studio to guide their respective factions through the upcoming gang wars:
- Caiman Wataru as Takagi Alex
- Nikaido Reina as Kondo Reba Buhr
- En Kenyu as Horiuchi Chris Smith
- Shin as Yoshimasa Hosoya Sean Chiplock
- Noi as Yu Kobayashi Cherami Leigh
- Fujita aa Kengo Takanashi Bryce Papenbrook
- Ebisu as Miyu Tomita
Expected Plot Details: What Happens Next?
The narrative for Season 3 will pick up in the immediate, reality-bending aftermath of the Season 2 finale, continuing to faithfully adapt Q-Hayashida’s legendary 23-volume dark fantasy manga.
The story is hurtling directly into the “Cross-Eyes Boss” arc. After the chaotic events inside the Living Dead Central and En’s estate, the mystery surrounding Caiman’s true identity and the source of his lizard head is finally unraveling. Season 3 will follow Caiman and Nikaido as they pull closer to the dark, primordial center of the sorcerer world.
Concurrently, the power structure within the Sorcerer realm is completely fracturing. Following severe internal casualties, En’s powerful syndicate will find themselves in a brutal, territorial turf war against the rising, desperate faction of the Cross-Eyes. With magic carpet escapes, devil contracts, and a heavier dose of black magic, the upcoming block of episodes will force both the residents of the Hole and the elite Sorcerers to realize that the entity pulling the strings from the shadows is far more dangerous than anyone anticipated.
