Four people died in a tragic road accident on Gorakhpur Link Expressway in Jaitpur police station area on Friday morning, while four others are said to be seriously injured. The accident took place near Amberpur toll plaza near kilometer number 85, where a Volvo bus going from Delhi to Darbhanga, Bihar collided head-on with a trailer.
According to information received from eyewitnesses, a double-decker sleeper bus was going from Delhi towards Darbhanga on the expressway around 5.30 am on Friday. Meanwhile, a massive collision took place between a bus and a trailer near Amberpur toll plaza. The collision was so strong that the entire safety wall on one side of the bus disappeared and the passengers in the bus suffered serious injuries, causing screams. As soon as information about the accident was received, nearby people reached the spot and started providing relief.
On information, Jaitpur police station also reached the spot and started relief work. With the help of local people, the police evacuated the passengers from the crashed bus. Seriously injured people were sent to the hospital for immediate treatment. After the accident, traffic on the expressway was also affected for some time.
Four passengers died while the injured were serious.
In this accident, four people died on the spot, while among the injured, three-four people were said to be seriously injured. The process of identification of the dead and injured is being done by the police. Considering the magnitude of the accident, the possibility of the death toll increasing cannot be ruled out, although its official confirmation will be clear only after the detailed report of the concerned authorities.
Police engaged in finding the cause of the accident
After the accident, the police has started investigating the matter. Under what circumstances did the accident occur, what was the speed of the bus and trailer and whether there was any negligence on the part of the driver or not, all these points are being investigated. It was heard from the discussion among the people that the truck was already parked on the roadside and the bus driver blinking was the main reason for the accident.
Such a major accident has once again raised serious questions regarding speed and road safety on the expressway. At present, the complete picture of the accident will be clear only after police investigation and official information from the officials.
As soon as the District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police received the information, they reached the hospital and collected information related to the injured and the District Magistrate instructed the Chief Medical Officer for proper treatment of the injured. The Superintendent of Police also gave necessary directions to the subordinates.
