Ahmedabad, September 2, 2026 – Gujarat State Sanskrit In collaboration with the Board, Education Department, Gandhinagar on 01/09/2026 Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open UniversitySanskritiksha was inaugurated in Jyotirmay campus. Along with this, Sanskrit Literature Day was celebrated under Sanskrit Saptah. The entire program was organized by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Under the guidance of Ami Upadhyay and Director of the Department of Humanities and Sociology, Prof. Organized under the direction of Yogendra Parekh.
Sanskrit is not just a language
In the presidential address, Prof. Ami Upadhyay said that Sanskrit is not just a language. It is melodious music and a powerful medium of Indian identity. The survival of any culture depends on the preservation of its language. Due to limitation of language, thoughts and culture also become limited. The revival of the extinct Hebrew language in Israel is the result of the strong patriotism and commitment of the people there. Sanskrit language is not limited to any particular class or caste. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkare had supported making it the national language during the discussion on the Constitution. Sanskrit is the basic basis of economics, science, literature and all other Indian languages.
Along with this, he announced to start a 20-day free Sanskrit speaking class for the university employees and nearby citizens. Apart from this, by linking Ramayana, Vedas and ancient heritage sites.Sanskrit TourismAlso presented the idea of developing a new concept.

He expressed happiness that 'Sanskrit Language Lab' has been functioning in the university for the last four years. Postgraduate courses in Sanskrit, Indian knowledge traditions and Hindu studies are being run in the university for the last three years. Apart from this, he requested the university professors to translate four-five Sanskrit words every day and said that with all these efforts, it is expected that the use of Sanskrit will increase in daily life.
True construction of Sanskrit building through active communication of language and thoughts.
Chief guest Shri Himanjay Paliwala presented his speech in Sanskrit language. Talking about the promotion of the language and its importance, he said that the true construction of a Sanskrit building is not done by physical bricks, but by the active communication of the language and thoughts. For the unity and integrity of the country during the Constituent Assembly, Dr. Ambedkar had made a far-sighted proposal to make Sanskrit the national language.
He told Gujarat Government'ssanskrit room' Referring to the scheme, Dr. More than 550 institutions including Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University have enthusiastically joined it and it is a matter of pride that this university is the first to establish a Sanskrit cell in the university class. He further said that Sanskrit is not just the language of classrooms, teachers and universities. Sanskrit is everyone's language. Our main objective is to impart only bookish knowledge. We have to create a cultured environment everywhere by combining Sanskrit with modern subjects like science.
Special guest Dr. Vishnu Prasad Trivedi, while lecturing about the movement of the mind based on the first 6 mantras of 'Shiva Sankalp Sukta' of the 34th chapter of Shukla Yajurveda, said that the mind travels a long distance in the dormant state of wakefulness. He is the lord of the senses. In the Suktas of 'Shiva Sankalp Sukta', the sage prays that the mind always becomes benevolent and has good resolutions. And said that, just as the charioteer controls the horse, knowledge and good deeds can be done by controlling the mind.
Honoring the researchers of the best research paper
In this program, the researchers of the six best research papers selected by the judges in the previously organized IKS International Conference were honored by the university with incentives and certificates. Among these researchers Anjali Ramol and Dr. Narendra Kumar, Mr. Jaimin Dave, Dr. Aditya Joshi and Jai Joshi, Afsana Khatun, Arpan A. hero and Damini Shah, Dr. Kriti Vyas and Prof. seer barotIs included.
On this occasion, texts like Vedas, Puranas, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Itihasa, Grammar and Nyaya etc. were kept in the newly constructed Sanskrit room. As well as Sanskrit sports and 'Science in Sanskrit'The exhibition was arranged.
