‘Drive, Passion & Hunger’ — Murali Kartik’s Pick for Virat Kohli Biopic Title
Ex-Indian spinner Murali Kartik was in complete awe of Virat Kohli after the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won their second IPL title on Sunday. The veteran batter scored a match-winning 75 not out and also scored his fastest ever fifty in the IPL, which came off a mere 25 balls.
Thanks to that knock, RCB were able to beat Gujarat Titans by five wickets and two overs left in the game. Kohli got the winning runs in fine style as he deposited Arshad Khan over the ropes with a huge six. This was also the best score for the former Indian skipper in the IPL finals and his highest score at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Speaking to Cricbuzz after the RCBvsGT final, Kartik said, “If a movie were made on Kohli, then it should be named ‘Drive, Passion, Hunger’ because that’s what he embodies. He doesn’t take his praises to his head and take it home, and this is the best thing about Virat. It is really amazing when a player keeps becoming a better version of himself.”
India’s former spinner also added, “He has been cricket’s great for a while now. But it was really strange that he couldn’t win the IPL title in 2025, but now the team has done it twice. Last season, his emotions after winning the title were very pure and raw, but this year it’s different, like Virat knew all along the team would do it once more.”
Zaheer Khan praises RCB’s former skipper
Yet another voice that was in full praise for the veteran Indian batter was none other than Zaheer Khan. Both Zaheer and Virat had shared the dressing room for India and for a few IPL seasons at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The 47-year-old in his chat with Cricbuzz said, “Once Gujarat were able to score just 154, they should have tried to dismiss Virat early. He will always turn up in big matches and never disappoints in such games. Having been with the franchise since the first day, both the player and the team have faced many hardships, but now they have won successive titles.”
