Draupadi Murmu leaves on tour to three European countries, India’s diplomacy will get new strength

According to the information shared by the Ministry of External Affairs, President Murmu left from the capital New Delhi on Sunday morning. The Ministry of External Affairs said that the President’s visit will give new impetus to India’s relations with these countries.

State visit to Moldova, North Macedonia and Romania

Giving information on social media platform X, the Ministry of External Affairs wrote, ‘President Draupadi Murmu has gone on a state visit to the Republic of Moldova, Republic of North Macedonia and Romania. This is the first visit by an Indian President to Moldova and North Macedonia and the first presidential visit to Romania in three decades. This tour will give new impetus to India’s relations with these countries.”

The tour will run from 19th to 25th July

At the same time, before leaving for a foreign trip, information was shared by the President’s Office that President Draupadi Murmu is going on a state visit to the Republic of Moldova, Republic of North Macedonia and Romania. This is the first visit of an Indian President to Moldova and North Macedonia. The visit of the President of India to Romania is taking place after more than three decades.

President of India Draupadi Murmu will be on a state visit to Moldova, North Macedonia and Romania from 19 to 25 July 2026. The objective of this tour is to strengthen India’s political, economic, trade and technological relations with these countries of Europe.

Foreign Ministry gave information about the trip

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal spoke in a special press briefing on the programs to be held during President Draupadi Murmu’s visit to European countries. During this, Secretary (West) Sibi George, Press Secretary to the President Dr. Manisha Verma and Joint Secretary for Southern Europe Region in the Ministry of External Affairs Alpana Dubey were also present.

Visit on the invitation of the Presidents of the three countries

Secretary (West) Sibi George said that the state visit of President Draupadi Murmu to Moldova, North Macedonia and Romania from 19 to 25 July 2026 is being held on the invitation of the Presidents of the three countries.

First presidential visit to Moldova and North Macedonia

He said that this visit is very important historically, because for the first time an Indian President is paying a bilateral visit to Moldova and North Macedonia. Talking about Romania, this will be the first state visit of an Indian President in more than 30 years. Earlier such a journey had taken place in 1994.

Steps towards strengthening relations with Europe

George said that the visit to these three countries shows that India is now continuously focusing on strengthening its relations with the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Additionally, it is an important step towards furthering India’s comprehensive partnership with Europe and the European Union. The tour aims to deepen India’s ties with Europe and highlight the three ‘T’ This will prove to be an important step towards increasing cooperation in the fields of trade, technology and tourism.

Secretary (West) George said that this will be the first visit of an Indian President to Moldova after the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Moldova. Moldova opened its embassy in New Delhi in 2023. Therefore, this visit is quite important historically and politically and shows that India is continuously strengthening its relations with Eastern Europe.
