Flood in Rajouri-Poonch of Jammu and Kashmir, hundreds of vehicles swept away like straw, 11 dead… many people still missing

According to the information received so far, 11 people have lost their lives in this disaster, while dozens of people are reported missing. Administration, army and disaster management teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations on war footing.

Heavy casualties in Poonch and Rajouri

The worst impact of the floods was seen in Surankote area of ​​Poonch district, where 10 people have been confirmed dead due to bad weather and flash floods. In Rajouri also, a woman died due to flood. According to the local administration, people were trapped due to water logging in many residential areas.

At present, teams of NDRF, SDRF and Indian Army are working with the local administration to take the stranded people to safe places.

Eradicate the bus stand

The scene of flood in Rajouri district was very horrifying. The flood that occurred around 3 am completely submerged the lower area of ​​the Bela bus stand. According to local residents, within no time 200 to 250 cars were washed away in the strong current of water.

In the video going viral on social media, cars can be seen floating like toys. Local people say that now there is no trace left of the bus stand and two houses have also completely collapsed.

Memories of 1992 tragedy fresh

This horrific disaster has reminded the local people of the flood of 1992. The victims say that everything they owned has been washed away in the water and they are now forced to live under the open sky. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed deep concern over the situation and said that he himself is monitoring the situation.

He told on social media that the first priority of the administration is to save precious lives and the government will provide all possible help to the affected people.

High alert issued for heavy rain for next 4 days

The Meteorological Department has warned that the coming days may be even more challenging. There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in districts like Rajouri, Poonch, Kathua, Samba, Doda and Kishtwar of Jammu division between July 19 and 23.
