Libido Enhancement Drug: Haryana The death of a young man in Gurugram has raised many questions. The body of 29-year-old Rohit Lal, who lived in a PG flat in Sector-53, was recovered from his room. According to India Today report, preliminary investigation has revealed that his death was probably caused by taking an overdose of sex power enhancing drug.
Rohit Lal was originally from Nagpur and was working in the office of Quality Council of India in New Delhi. He was living alone in a rented flat in Gurugram. The incident came to light on Thursday morning when one of Rohit’s colleagues arrived to pick him up. Usually both of them used to go to office together, but that day Rohit was neither picking up the phone nor opening the door. When contact could not be made after several attempts, the colleague informed the police.
How was the suspicion of overdose expressed?
The police reached the spot, opened the door and entered inside, where Rohit’s body was found. During the search of the room, the police found several wrappers of sex enhancement drugs and health supplements, raising suspicion of an overdose. After this the question is arising that after all a person can die due to sexual potency enhancing drugs.
According to the police, after the completion of the postmortem process, the body has been handed over to the relatives. At present, the investigation of the case is going on and efforts are being made to find out when and in what quantity the young man had taken the medicine.
What is sex enhancement drug?
Experts say that sex enhancement drugs are such medicines, which are used to improve sexual ability, desire or performance. These medicines work by increasing blood flow in the body or by affecting neurotransmitters. These are generally used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
What are sex enhancement drugs?
Major drugs falling in this category include PDE5 inhibitors such as sildenafil, tadalafil and vardenafil. These medicines block the PDE5 enzyme, which relaxes the muscles and increases the effect of nitric oxide. Due to this, blood flow to the sexual organs increases and helps in erection during arousal.
What are the side effects of these medicines?
However, consumption of these medicines can also cause many side effects. These include headache, body ache, digestive problems, dizziness, changes in vision, redness on the face, blocked or runny nose.
What could be death?
According to the National Institutes of Health, Sildenafil was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1998. Despite this, questions have been raised from time to time regarding the risks associated with its use. In some research, cases of heart problems, stroke and even death have been mentioned after its use.
A systematic review analyzed 19 studies linked to databases such as PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science. These included case reports, case series, reviews and retrospective studies. An FDA report in 1998 documented 522 deaths associated with the use of sildenafil within eight months of its introduction to the market.
Additionally, six cases of death associated with the use of sildenafil without prescription have been reported, in which all cases were postmortemed and the deaths were linked to sexual activity and drug exposure. In these cases the amount of sildenafil in the body was also recorded.

Experts believe that such medicines should always be used only after consulting a doctor, because taking them in wrong or excessive amounts can have serious consequences. Along with this, it is also important to ensure that the medicine that enhances sexual potency is taken in the right quantity. If the dose is increased, one may have to suffer serious consequences.
