Sports Bike: Italian bike manufacturer Ducati has introduced the new Hypermotard V2. This bike replaces the company’s older Hypermotard 950, which was discontinued earlier this year. The new motorcycle has been made available in two variants, Standard and SP. Its ex-showroom price in India is Rs 16.53 lakh and Rs 20.78 lakh respectively. The new Hypermotard V2 has an updated engine, new frame, improved braking system and advanced riding features.
New frame and powerful engine
Ducati Hypermotard V2 has a new monocoque frame. It has an 890cc liquid-cooled, V-twin engine, which generates power of 120.4hp and torque of 94Nm. The same engine is also used in other Ducati motorcycles, but in the Hypermotard V2 it has been tuned to deliver more power and torque. The new engine helps in giving better performance to the bike.
Tire and braking system changes
The width of the rear tire in the new Hypermotard V2 has been increased by 10mm. Additionally, the old Diablo Rosso III tires have now been replaced with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres. The front brake callipers of the bike have also been upgraded and now get Brembo M4.32 callipers. These changes are aimed at providing better grip and braking performance.
Suspension and seat height
The standard Hypermotard V2 comes with a fully adjustable 46mm KYB fork at the front. At the rear, a monoshock suspension with preload and rebound adjustment is available. Its seat height is 880mm. However, it can be lowered to 865mm with the low seat available as an accessory. With the combination of low seat and low suspension kit, the seat height can be brought up to 850mm.
Features and specialties of SP variant
Talking about the features, Hypermotard V2 has features like 5-inch TFT display, riding mode, power mode and bi-directional quickshifter. At the same time, its SP variant has Öhlins suspension on both the front and rear. It gets sportier Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV Corsa tires instead of the standard model’s Diablo Rosso IV tyres. In this way, the SP variant has been designed keeping in mind better handling and track performance.
