Guwahati, 06 October 2026: Earthquake of moderate intensity was felt in Nagaon district of Assam in the early morning. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the intensity of the earthquake was recorded at 4.5 on the Richter scale.
Giving information on social media platform 'X', NCS had said that earthquake tremors were recorded at 4:23 in the morning. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Nagaon and it was at a depth of about 33 kilometers from the surface.
These shocks experienced early in the morning caused panic among the people; However, no reports have been received so far regarding loss of life or property.
Earthquake tremors in Una of Himachal Pradesh also
Earlier, on late Sunday night, a mild earthquake was felt in Una district of Himachal Pradesh. According to the National Center for Seismology, the intensity of this earthquake in Una was recorded at 2.5 on the Richter scale.
The earthquake occurred at 11:48 pm and its epicenter was at a depth of only 9 kilometers. Despite the low depth, the tremors were mild and no damage was reported.
