ED's march towards bogus toll collection; Raids in 7 states including Maharashtra, Jammu, Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi : In case of malpractice action is taken by ED. It is bogus now Toll collection And the ED launched a massive drive into alleged misappropriation of funds from government departments. A team from ED's Lucknow divisional office launched a simultaneous search operation at 14 locations under the PMLA.

This campaign of ED is being implemented in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Jammu, Madhya Pradesh, NCR and Kolkata. Investigation revealed that unauthorized software was being used at various NHAI toll plazas. The software was used to generate bogus or unauthorized receipts instead of genuine toll receipts and diverted part of the toll amount before it was recorded in government accounts.

According to ED, forensic investigations and NHAI records have confirmed the use of such software. Based on this, ED has raided various places for further investigation. According to officials, the raids are aimed at seizing digital and documentary evidence, identifying those who benefited from the fraud and tracing the proceeds of crime.

The court ordered the confiscation of the toll plaza

Direct action has been taken by the court in the past as well. The Washim District Court dealt a major blow to the National Highway Authority in the case of land acquisition for the National Highway at a low rate. Even after ordering revised rates of land acquired for the highway, no payment was made. A historic order was given to confiscate the Dhumka-Tondagaon toll plaza in Washim district.
