New Delhi: After the protest by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Delhi Police has finally registered an FIR in the pellet gun case. According to police sources, an FIR has been registered against unknown people for the alleged use of pellet guns during the protest at Jantar Mantar on July 20. After the FIR, Rahul Gandhi has called it the victory of truth and the first step towards justice.
From Mandir Marg to Sansad Marg, I will not move until there is an FIR.
On Friday, Rahul Gandhi first reached Mandir Marg police station along with the victim Sahil Lochab, his parents Jyoti and Deepak and lawyers, but after being refused to lodge an FIR, he went to Sansad Marg police station. He demanded the number of the investigating officer and the FIR from the DCP.
Rahul clearly said that until an FIR is filed against 19 year old student Sahil for firing a pellet gun, he will not leave the police station. They allege that pellet guns were fired on students in Connaught Place on July 20 and they have solid evidence for this.
The entire family including Priyanka sat in dharna, raised slogans
The entire Congress clan joined Rahul's protest. Many senior leaders including sister Priyanka Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh, Mukul Wasnik, Kumari Selja and Salman Khurshid sat outside the DCP office.
As soon as the dharna started, a crowd of workers gathered outside Sansad Marg police station. The workers raised slogans against PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah – Account for pellet guns, Amit Shah should answer.
What allegations did Rahul make, has the order come from above?
Rahul wrote on On July 20, a pellet gun fired at Sahil who was protesting peacefully at Jantar Mantar, due to which he was seriously injured and the eyesight of one eye is in danger.
This is a serious crime against peaceful demonstration. He alleged that Sahil wants to file an FIR for justice, but he is not being allowed to do so. I have been told that orders have come from above that FIR is not to be registered.
But I will not leave from here until the FIR is filed. Such incidents happen to thousands of people in this country, women are raped and crimes are committed against the poor. Pellet gun has been fired in Connaught Place, New Delhi.
If there is an FIR, there will also be a judicial inquiry – Rahul Gandhi
Rahul said that neither Home Minister Amit Shah gave clarification nor the PM apologized for this barbarity. If an FIR is registered, there will be a judicial inquiry and action will be taken against whoever is guilty from top to bottom. Jairam Ramesh said that the protest will continue until the demands are met.
According to sources, Sahil had given a written complaint on August 14, but the IO number was not received. Contacted again on August 17 through email and phone, but not even acknowledgment was given. After this Rahul Gandhi had to intervene.
