EFL Cup — 17-year-old Samba stars as Manchester City thrashes Norwich City

17-year-old striker Floyd Samba netted a brace as Manchester City sealed its spot in the next round of the EFL Cup with a 5-0 thrashing of Norwich City on Thursday.

The son of former Premier League defender Christopher Samba found the goal in both halves as Enzo Maresca’s side cruised past its second division opponent.

He gave it the lead with a header from a cross delivered by fellow debutant Allan, before Rayan Cherki doubled the advantage after running onto a pass from Ayyoub Bouaddi.

Allan, who joined over the summer from Palmeiras, then scored his first goal in light blue with a low left-footed finish before Samba added his second.

Ryan McAidoo wrapped up proceedings for City with a neat finish from inside the box.

Maresca and Co. — who next face Sunderland in the league on Sunday — will take on Brighton and Hove Albion in the fourth round after its second-half comeback against Manchester United.
