Kashmir-based Chinar Corps did not reveal the identity of the slain terrorist, but officials identified him as Suleman Shah alias 'Musa'. The Army posted on 'X' that it along with other security forces had launched the operation in the general area of ​​Koragg, Yusmarg in central Kashmir.

The army said alert troops noticed suspicious activity and when challenged, the terrorists opened fire, leading to a fierce exchange of fire in which one terrorist was killed. Officials said that the operation is still going on and during this, Musa was killed in the encounter in the forest area Dudhpathri.

He said Musa, wanted for his involvement in several attacks on both sides of the Pir Panjal ranges over the years, had escaped the encounter in the Yusmarg hills earlier this month.

According to officials, his close aide Yasir was killed in the encounter that took place on September 5. Officials said that the killing of Musa is being considered as the biggest blow to Lashkar-e-Taiba in Jammu and Kashmir.
